On Saturday 19th March, the Sudanese delegation participating in “Suraj Kund” Festival of Arts and Crafts established their participation in the 35th edition of the festival, wich is being held in Faridabad, from 19th March to 4th April, 2022.
The exhibition was inaugurated by the Governor of Haryana Province with the honor and participation of more than 25 countries, where the festival witnessed a great turnout from the public.
Sudan Delegation is consisted of 16 participants, including a folklore troupe and exhibitors of traditional handicrafts, from the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Industry - Khartoum State, under the supervision and coordination of the Embassy of The Republic of Sudan in India and the Embassy of the Republic of India in Sudan.
Sudan’s participation in the Mela includes also distinctive handcrafted heritage works that have won the admiration and fascination of visitors, and the performance of the band and the singing links were admired by the visiting public of various groups.
Occupying a place of pride on the international tourist calendar, more than a million visitors throng the Mela during the fortnight including thousands of foreign tourists. The Suraj kund Mela events are unique as it showcases the richness and diversity of the handicrafts, handlooms and cultural fabric of the participating countries, as its the largest crafts fair in the world.
The festival continues daily until the fifth of this April, and Sudan, represented by the troupe, presents a daily show in the evening period, beside the continuous exhibition of Sudan throughout the festival period.
